YRC Worldwide ranks first in its category of the 2010 Security 500November 29, 2010 Awards
No. 1 in Transportation/Logistics/Supply Chain/Distribution/Warehousing
YRC Worldwide Inc. is ranked number 1 in the comprehensive Transportation/Logistics/Supply Chain/Distribution/Warehousing category of the 2010 Security 500 survey. Security magazine conducts the annual benchmarking survey.
The Security 500 survey tracks companies and institutions in 16 vertical markets to create a reliable benchmarking program among security organizations. Rankings are then developed based on a number of key factors, including security spending per employee, the number of security officers per square feet of facilities, innovative security strategies and peer/customer feedback where appropriate.
Wayne “Butch” Day, vice president of corporate security at YRC Worldwide says, “The caliber of the YRCW security force makes a difference for customers.”
“All the members of our security force are former law enforcement officials, and that’s an added value for customers that is unique within the industry,” Day says. “Our customers know that if they have any security concerns at their facilities, they can call us and speak directly with a security professional. We’re here day and night, and happy to advise them or send someone in to help.”
Day also says, “The YRC Worldwide security force is strengthened by the corporation’s view that risk management is integral to all parts of the business from operation through sales.”
“Over the years, we’ve been able to integrate the security organization throughout the corporation,” Day says. “We’re very grateful for the support we receive from the leadership at YRCW, and for the recognition we receive from the industry.”
